What to Expect
- I charge $150 CAD per virtual visit.
- My talks are 30 minutes long for kindergarten and primary, and 45 minutes long for grades 1-6, including 15 minutes for Q&A.
- Whether in-person or online, my sessions are upbeat and interactive. I ask lots of questions, set fun challenges and try to involve everybody.
- When visiting virtually I screen share and use virtual backgrounds, fun filters and physical props.
- We'll discover how big imaginations make us stronger people. I'll talk about my books, usually focusing on my latest release unless you make a specific request.
- I'll tell you about my job as a writer, including how I come up with ideas, how long it takes to write my books and how many mistakes I make along the way.
- For younger audiences I'll read at least one of my picture books in full. For older year groups events will focus in my chapter book series, DO NOT DISTURB THE DRAGONS, unless you request a picture book focus.
- I’ll answer as many questions from the children as time allows.
- I aim to leave children and teachers excited, happy and fired-up about literacy. I love receiving follow-up emails and tweets from teachers showing me the resulting work children have created - and I always reply!
